Simon T. Bailey

Speaker, author, television host, and philanthropist

AHIMA21 show moderator and closing keynote speaker Simon T. Bailey believes you are meant to share your brilliance. His passion and purpose ignites sustainable transformation. He understands the pressure that leaders and high performers are facing in the midst of uncertainty and equips them with simple, easy-to-implement strategies to accelerate results. Bailey knows how to challenge an audience and provide them with tangible takeaways and sustainable action steps. Bailey has more than 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, including serving as sales director for Disney Institute, and has worked with more than 1,800 organizations in 50 countries. Daniel Kraft, MD

Physician-scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, and innovator

Daniel Kraft, MD, will be the mainstage speaker at AHIMA21 on Tuesday, September 21, from 12:50-1:40pm, where he will speak about “The Future of Health and Medicine: Where can technology take us?”

Kraft is a Stanford- and Harvard-trained physician-scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, and innovator. With over 25 years of experience in clinical practice, biomedical research, and healthcare innovation, Kraft has served as Faculty Chair for Medicine & Neuroscience at Singularity University, and is the Founder and Chair of Exponential Medicine, a program that explores convergent, rapidly developing technologies and their potential in biomedicine and healthcare.

Dr. Kraft’s academic research has focused on stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, stem cell derived immunotherapies for cancer, bioengineering human T-cell differentiation, and humanized animal models. His clinical work focuses on bone marrow / hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for malignant and non-malignant diseases in adults and children, and medical devices to enable stem cell based regenerative medicine, including marrow derived stem cell harvesting, processing, and delivery.

David Pogue

Author and television host

David Pogue, a former columnist for the New York Times and Scientific American, and a five-time Emmy winner for his stories on CBS Sunday Morning, will be AHIMA21’s keynote speaker for Monday, September 20, from 9:45am-10:25am. Whether he's covering artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, autonomous vehicles, the latest consumer tech, a post-robot world, or preparing for climate change, Pogue provides invaluable insights on how technology impacts our work, businesses, health, society, and connections with each other—now and into the future. Megan L. Ranney, MD, MPH

Emergency physician, researcher, and advocate

Megan L. Ranney, MD, MPH, will be the Plenary Session Speaker at AHIMA21 on Tuesday, September 21, where she will speak about “Using Digital Health to Improve Health and Reduce Disparities.”

Dr. Ranney is a practicing emergency physician, a researcher, and a national advocate for innovative approaches to public health. Her work focuses on the intersection between digital health, violence prevention, and population health.

Dr. Ranney is the associate dean of strategy and innovation at the Brown University School of Public Health, as well as the founding director of the Brown-Lifespan Center for Digital Health.

Joel Shapiro, JD, PhD

Clinical associate professor and chief analytics officer

Joel Shapiro, JD, PhD, will be the speaker at AHIMA21 on Wednesday, September 22, where he will speak about “Generating Business Value with Data Analytics.”

Shapiro is a clinical associate professor at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he leads Kellogg’s Analytical Consulting Lab. He is also the chief analytics officer of Varicent, a sales performance management solutions provider.

An expert on helping organizations generate business value with analytics and develop sound analytics investment strategies, Shapiro’s work has been featured in top publications such as Business Insider, Harvard Business Review, and Forbes.
